Just when you think the team at RocketTheme has outdone themselves with last month’s template, along come the “Affinity“.  This jam packed extension theme also incorperates itself with multiple third party add-ons.  You can build your site using this theme to include the ever popular JomSocial, the community component; K2, the advanced content application; Community Builder, the profile extender; and phpBB3 (you can have phpBB3 themed identically with the RocketTheme’s phpBB3 related theme).

Hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen, here comes the WordPress theme Visual available at ThemeForest.net.  This theme is one of the most dynamically edited WordPress layouts to display more as a CMS than a blogging app.

The back end is simplified and does not have a complicated back end admin panel to adding or editing content.  The theme does have a couple requirements in order to work:

• Visual uses TimThumb for automatically generating all the thumbnails. TimThumb requires the GD library, which is available on any host sever with PHP 4 .3+ installed. NOTE : Images need to be on your own server.
• You might need Museo 700 in order to properly edit the PSD files provided with the theme.

The feature list as per the designer:

• Three built in color schemes and and a very flexible skinning system that allows you to create your own skins, while keeping the layout intact. And you can do it in under 5 min!
• Very clean and simple artice carousel, allowing you to bring back some of your favorite articles or the articles you really want your users to read.
• Easy way to edit the categories that should be part of the main menu, the category blocks featured on the homepage as well as the posts that should show up in the Featured Articles section.
• Smart scripting that prevents duplicate article links, ensuring more of your content will be featured on the homepage.
• Two widget ready sidebars (one for the main category pages, one for the single pages and archive pages), as well as customization for WP-Polls and FlickrRSS.
• Clever visual navigation inside the single article page and thumbnail integration for the archive pages, both ensuring more page views.
• sIFR implemented for block and widget titles, for an even nicer look and feel
• You get all the main design source files (6 files), both in PSD and in layered PNG (I personally use Fireworks)

ManiFolio is a Joomla 1.5 template by  portfoliodesign.org built around the portfolio component developed by the same group.  The component is developed in a logical end user friendly manner that focuses on the ease of adding editing and in general building your portfolio.  The theme portion of the package (not really one package, need separate downloads) is geared towards enhancing your Joomla site with a creative and end user intuitive/friendly way for displaying your content.

The team at Templateplazza hit one out of the part with it’s latest theme called Showcase plazza.  For some time we have been seeing this style of themes/templates around the WordPress platform, but this is a first, to our knowledge, for the Joomla environment.  It is really nice to see new ideas spawn in the Joomla development community.

The Showcase plazza theme is geared towards, as the name would imply, showcasing various sites, however with a little bit of tweaking it can be customized to display whatever one wants.  There are two extensions included in the theme that we at ThemeLoft.com thought were outstanding additions, they are TopMenu w/Desc (this is more of a snippet) and the TPShowcase component. Here is a really interesting one off WordPress theme called Sofa YellowPress, this one is available at Theme Forest.  One of the main differences this theme displays is that it is geared towards user generated content, which is a great way to interact with your audiences.

The theme has two operating modes, paid and free.  Running the theme option in paid mode, requires the would be poster to pay prior to adding their content.  Payments are done via PayPal and the payment process is fully automatic, “set it and forget it”. <-(OK so we got that quote from watching late night television).  Within the admin mode, you are able to set the expiry date and if there is an option to renew and how much that would be.
